(9/16/2010) (From Hartford Business Journal)
Yale University opened its LEED-certified health center this week, a 140,000 sq. ft. facility made with environmentally friendly materials and features.
The building on 55 Lock St. features a glass scoop to allow more natural light and a rooftop healing center for patients. It will be the first building in Connecticut to receive the Green Guide for Health Care for integrating enhanced environmental and health principles and practices into its design, construction, operation and maintenance.
The LEED certification comes from the U.S. Green Building Council and serves as an indication of environmentally friendly buildings.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be Oct. 4.
